Playwright Del Shores’ hilarious 1996 southern-fried comedy about a quirky Texas family digging up skeletons after their matriarch dies is billed as a “black comedy about white trash,” and has 14 Drama-Logue awards to its name. It was also turned into a cult classic film (starring Delta Burke and Olivia Newton-John) and a LOGO TV series with Rue McClanahan. But no matter who your tawdry leads are, this biting, clever farce of uptight church ladies, barflies, bubbas and Bitsy Maes is a raucous romp through homophobia, therapy and big hair – yes, that’s possible. Don’t miss it.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Oct. 3. Continues through Oct. 25, 2014
