More than 30 years after they first brought the world their blend of punk, surf rock and rockabilly, Southern Culture on the Skids have managed to defy the odds—it’s not easy for a band who banks on hilarious lyrics to resonate for so long, but the trio has kept the good times going strong. And the group’s live show is as rollicking and unpredictable as their music. Fans have been known to dance onstage—assuming they weren’t doused in banana pudding or chomping on the fried chicken that the band tosses to them. Antics aside, Southern Culture on the Skids' salad days saw them appear on multiple late night TV shows and film soundtracks, making them one of the beloved groups in their genre. Then again, who wouldn’t appreciate good-natured comedic songs about Southern culture?
