Starbucks To Start Posting Calorie Counts On Menus Nationwide

Wake up and smell the calories!

Beginning next week, all Starbucks nationwide will begin posting calorie counts on the menu ahead of the federal mandate that will go into effect later this year. The company is already required to do so at New York stores and calorie counts for its drinks and food items has always been available on their website and mobile apps.

In a news release, the senior vice president of global research and development at Starbucks said that “Menu labeling is yet another step to extend our commitment to wellness, ensuring our customers and partners (employees) have the information they need to make informed decisions and understand all the ways that they can customize their Starbucks beverages to be within their desired calorie range.”

But with some of the higher calorie drinks like a Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino® blended beverage at already 410 calories for the smallest size, and 580 calories if you go just one size larger, perhaps a better measuring stick might be how many Big Macs (550 calories) you might have eaten instead.
