Sweat it Out

Rim Morrison of the Barstow Boyz left a message on one of our machines not so long ago about this Thanksgiving weekend show. He made promises of an “all white meat weekend” and even punctuated the voicemail with a couple of howls.
The Barstow Boyz started seven years ago by five musicians in some well-known local bands—and maybe you’ve been lucky enough to stumble into one of their shows on a random night at La Cave or Detroit Bar. That’s where you’ll find five grown men in wigs—funny wigs—sweat bands, bike shorts, bandanas, skintight tank tops and miscellaneous women’s sportswear performing some of the very best and worst double entendres and hits of the 1970s and early ‘80s. “It’s like the worst of Jim Ladd and jet ski salesmen,” Morrison describes.
In short, it’s a pretty spectacular sight.
