The 10 Best Halloween Weekend Concerts

The scariest holiday of the year is almost upon us. Fortunately, the one thing music fans don't need to fear is boredom this Halloween, thanks to a weekend packed with shows right up until the night of fake blood, sexy costumes, and ritual debauchery on October 31. Whether you're a fan of psychobilly, ska, or a good old fashioned cover band, OC has plans for your night (and your nightmares) covered with this list of the 10 Best Halloween Weekend Concerts.

Oct. 27-31: Tiger Army/The Observatory/8:00 p.m./$30
L.A. psychobilly band, Tiger Army, will be playing their multi-night festival Octoberflame for the eighth year. Each night will feature different opening acts including Tijuana Panthers, Agent Orange, Bob Wayne and the legendary “Queen of Rockabilly” Wanda Jackson.

Oct. 28: Throw Rag/Alex’s Bar/8:00 p.m./$15
If there's anything a Halloween pirate can appreciate, it's some sleeve sailor rock, courtesy of Sean Wheeler (aka The Captain) and his band of marauders known as Throw Rag. The band are together again celebrating the holiday on stage at their blood red Long Beach stomping grounds better known as Alex's Bar.

Oct 29: Michale Graves/The Underground DTSA/9:00 p.m./$10
If you happen to be a fan of the Misfits, going to this show is a must. You'd be an American psycho if you didn't catch a singer from one of, if not, the most legendary horror punk band playing for such an affordable price.

 Oct. 30: Hallowseve Costume & Dance Party/The Continental Room/9:00 p.m/Free
Guests are encouraged to wear costumes for a contest they will be able to participate in at this costume and dance party. There will be live music by Naked Sabbath and the Black Machine covering Black Sabbath, Dirty Black Summer will revamp Danzig tunes and Greater Good show us their spin on The Kinks. Don't forget to dance.

Oct. 30: Nebulium/Chain Reaction/7:00 p.m./$10
Black death metal and the chilling essence of October naturally go hand in hand. This will be the up-and-coming Murrieta band's first time headlining a show, and what a better time to do so than for Halloween.

Oct. 31: Skapeche Mode/The Slidebar Rock-N-Roll Kitchen/7:00 p.m./Free
A band that has made a name for themselves in the local scene is doing so by putting a ska twist on Depeche Mode's music. Enjoy some of your favorite new wave jams with a new take on them for no cost.

Oct. 31: Black Sabbastards/The Republic/8:00 p.m./Free
One of the best parts of the holiday season is the number of tribute bands that come out to participate. Black Sabbastards is a Black Sabbath tribute band that will be playing with Sssssss! and Ironwise. The Republic will be providing tricks, treats and haunted visuals. Spooky!

Oct. 31: Mexrrissey/The Glass House/8:00 p.m./$20
Morrissey's music will always make you feel some type of way…typically depressed. Mexrrissey, on the other hand, will have you on your feet with their Latin spin of Morrissey's music. You won't spend your night crying about your ex with Mexrrissey.  Who knows, maybe you'll even find yourself a new novio/novia.

Oct. 31: Isaac Rother & The Phantoms/9:00 p.m./Multiply LA
Isaac Rother & The Phantoms celebrate Halloween all year round. Hell, you could assume so from their band name. Their entire aesthetic is that of 60's retro rock n' roll. You're bound to feel as though you just stepped into an episode of The Munsters.

Oct. 31: The Adicts/The Observatory/8:00 p.m/$25
This is perhaps the best concert that will be taking place on Halloween here in Orange County. 1980's face painted, English punk rock band are back with a killer lineup featuring Lower Class Brats, Generacion Suicida and Slipping into Darkness. Need we say more?
