Been so long, says the song, so let’s get together and do it again—and so for the first time since at least the '80s, Brian Wilson is reunited on the road with Beach Boys co-founders Al Jardine and Mike Love, and all those unhappy days discussing whether a certain someone should fuck with the formula are long forgotten. This is huge for anyone who likes the Beach Boys (or music or just being happy that they’re alive). It's as close to momentous as a Beatles reunion, even though they’re probably not gonna push much past the hits. And even that’s OK. That something like “Good Vibrations” or “God Only Knows” could come out of a bungalow in Hawthorne demands to paraphrase Kurt Vonnegut—”no matter how bad things gets, the music will still be wonderful.”
