Marrying the pop sounds of the 1950s with the edge of the '70s and '80s, The Bellhaunts produce psychobilly-infused punk rock tunes. And they come correct. With a female lead vocalist, this band is a tad reminiscent of another great contemporary outfit, Girl in a Coma. Yet The Bellhaunts manage to do their thing with their own unique brand of dark humor as opposed to the romanticism of their San Antonio peers. Dig the song “Abortions for Everyone” which rocks the lyric “Human race is disgusting/I'll be happy when you're gone.” Such nihilism. With an indie band on every corner dive bar these days, it's sort of refreshing.
