No one, not even the people who organized the recent Cupcake Showdown OC in a Fountain Valley warehouse anticipated the response it got. By showtime, block-long lines had formed for two food trucks and a bake-sale-cum-rave that brought together cupcakeries and amateur bakers sampling their wares. I was lucky enough to slip in early on. Fellow blogger Shuji was not.
The organizers are now hoping lighting strikes twice for their next event, a get-together to benefit breast cancer awareness and research they call “Eat Drink Pink!”
Though Jayne Lee was hush hush on the details, the organizer told me that she has a host of bakeries, local restaurants and food trucks who will be there serving pink-themed foods both savory and sweet. I'm sure it will include a few of the cupcakeries we saw at the last event. The participating vendors will then compete for the best pink-themed tastes in different categories. And this time, there will be alcohol.
The deets after the jump.
