In the twelve golden-est months Hollywood’s golden era arguably ever had, studios delivered Gone With The Wind, Ninotchka, The Wizard Of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, Love Affair, Stagecoach, Gunga Din, and Goodbye Mr. Chips—and those are just the ones the Academy or the box office immediately noticed.
