San Jose's the Mumlers just might give ultra-hip garage band the Black Lips a run for their money. Like the Lips, the Mumlers specialize in a 1960s fuzzy, dirty garage-y sound. But unlike their ham-fisted, clichè-laden counterparts who still think it's a cool act of rebellion to spit beer on their fans, the Mumlers infuse their music with supremely clever lyrical material and an air of subtle finesse. Check out the video for their song “Coffin Factory” and dig the hilarious chorus of zombies on backing vocals. This one should be a howl.
