The Neighbourhood

Full of acoustic merriment and imagery of warm beaches and skin-baring outfits, The Neighbourhood's lovey-dovey ode to summer lovin' “Sweater Weather” has been getting major airplay these days. But don't mistake their sound to be all sweet and tender; the Los Angeles group's debut album I Love You mixes melancholy lyrics, electronica and hip hop beats along with indie rock flavor in songs such as “Afraid,” and “How,” with Jesse Rutherford's angsty vocals leading the way. While there's a lot to appreciate in complicated emotions and overlapping genres, the definitive sing a-long track is “Sweater Weather,” and reasonably so- it's catchy as hell. Catch The Neighbourhood in Orange County's neighborhood venue The Observatory in Santa Ana tonight.
