“God Bless the Blues.” That's the mantra of the Orange County Blues Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enrichment of America's roots music. Their champion event, The Real Blues Festival of Orange County, swings back with style to Malone's Bar and Grill for its fifth installment. Featuring eight local blues bands, the evening's lineup includes the Chase Walker Band, Juke Joint Preachers, Kingtime, Oozie Blues, Papa J & Friends, Papermoon Gypsies, Rhythm B. Goode, and Willie and the Road Tramps. It's a full day of southern, soulful, heart-wrenching blues music—and runs from noon until well past sundown. So pace yourself—and remember, just for today, getting the blues is actually a very, very good thing.
