I found out about a new afternoon tea venue called The Tea Room in Newport Beach not by stumbling into them while on the road or through tips. To announce their arrival, they've practically plastered the social coupon websites like Groupon and Amazon Local with discounted tea time meals.
They opened this week offering sandwiches and set tea meals that start at about $15 for tea with two scones up to a full-on afternoon tea splurge called the Royal Tea for $45 that also includes champagne.

The place also offers hosting for children's tea parties, bridal showers and all other occasions where sipping tea and nibbling on tiny sandwiches are warranted.
Their website domain name is, however, quite hilarious: http://www.50shadesofearlgrey.com
