Word across the hemisphere (evidently via the BBC) is that the Twelves are Brazil’s alternate-world version of Daft Punk—an agile and adept production duo who knock out relentless sets of international and intergenerational dance music, and whose own remixes explore about sixty different ways to supercharge a beat. (In fact, their version of Daft Punk’s “Night Vision” is, shall we say, extremely competitive.) Never has Fever Ray sounded so funky as in the Twelves remix of “Seven,” and that’s not even close to the possibly even more impressive magic happening on their remix of Radiohead’s morose “Scatterbrain”—now you can dance to it! They should probably tackle Leonard Cohen next because if anyone can find the breakout club hit buried within “So Long Marianne,” it’s these guys.
