The Vibrators had punk figured out fast and early, with members abandoning pub rock once they saw the Sex Pistols and committing fully to the nasty new thing. Their first two albums are classic '77 punk that splits the difference between the Clash, the Buzzcocks and the Pistols and delivers a happily sarcastic take on the hot topics of the time—S&M, pogoing and going crazy, to hit some of the highlights. This is the pure old stuff from the U.K., unadulterated in every sense of the word. Plus: able support from Audacity and a notable reunion show from the Four Letter Words, primordial mutant ancestors of a big part of current OC punkiness. (Disclosure: I toured with those dudes!).
