Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party, based on a 1928 poem of the same name, is a scandalously drug-fueled musical featuring bathtub gin, cocaine and an orgy that ends in tragedy. The vaudeville-themed Prohibition-era piece displays what happens when the insatiable Queenie throws a party at which guests have sex with whomever they desire—despite gender, race or marital status—and follows them home after the bacchanalia ends. Presented by Theatre Out, Orange County’s LGBT theater company, and featuring wildly adult content, The Wild Party might just make you appreciate those nights spent in fat pants with a quart of Ben & Jerry’s in front of your television.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: June 3. Continues through July 2, 2011
