We're about due for another ska revival—but Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra never left the scene, where they've been rocking steady since 1988. Referred to by those who know as Skapara or TSPO, the group fuses jazz and rock into a realm of spastic party ska—a recipe that's sent them around the world many times over in their two-and-a-half decades of playing. They performed at Coachella in 2013, a move that grabbed the attention of ska-lovers young and old, enough so that the Japanese group was demanded back in the States. It's everything you could want in a ska show: way too many guys on stage (in matching jackets, of course) playing saxophones, guitars, drums and flutes in perfect unison, bouncing around with maddening energy. We're glad TSPO found their way back to California.
