For the past decade, San Diego’s Unwritten Law have fought through more than their fair share of adversity. Since releasing seven full-length records on nearly as many labels, the pop/punk band continue to thrive thanks to the support of their die-hard fan base—albeit to the surprise of industry insiders and many critics. Unwritten Law’s first few independent records allowed them to tour the country with bands such as Authority Zero and the Sex Pistols, which secured them mainstream attention by the time they released their fourth album, 2002’s Elva. These days, the band are trying to establish similar success as they get ready to release their latest studio album, Swan (on Suburban Noize Records), in early 2011.
