UPDATE, FEB. 22, 8:18 A.M.: Despite on and off rain, Garden Grove police did operate a sobriety checkpoint Friday night.
Police Sergeant Carl Whitney of GGPD's Traffic Division says four drivers were arrested for DUI and 15 vehicles were impounded, with 15 citations doled out to drivers for DUI,
being unlicensed and/or driving on a suspended license.

ORIGINAL POST, FEB. 18, 5:17 P.M.: There are two words to key in
on in the Garden Grove Police Department's announcement of a sobriety
checkpoint on Garden Grove Boulevard beginning at 9 tonight:
“Weather permitting.”
Yep, the slick roads outside may put the kabosh on the operation scheduled to continue through 3 a.m. Saturday.
“Traffic
volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and
drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be
arrested,” reads the cop shop's announcement. “Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are
considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or
drugs–Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest.”
Mottos are cool!
As usual, funding
for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office
of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.
