One of the most common questions I get from fellow reporters is why us Latino reporters like to over-pronounce Spanish words while doing our job in English–you know, like me always insisting on writing “Santa Ana” as SanTana, then telling annoyed hipsters that I’m writing it just like how the natives pronounce it. It’s such an old question that I answered it in my columna years ago–but since the old is new in this brave new video world (and since someone asked this question on Twitter), time to trot out this chestnut one more time.
Anyhoo, enjoy!
