Spice can be a funny thing. It can pierce, it can fade, it builds, it can be sudden, it can hurt, but it can also hurt oh so good. At Clay Oven in Irvine, where you can currently take The Shiv Challenge and eat the hottest pepper in the world, spice does all of those things.

And, because I love you Dear Readers, I took it so you don't have to go blind. You can watch what happens below.
Now, I may not have finished my challenge that day, but I assure you it's not because it was too spicy (I swear!). No, the reason I didn't finish is because I psyched myself out and ate way too much naan and mango lassi (which are both amazing at Clay Oven, by the way). I finished my Shiv the day after in the office and let me tell you this: Yes, it's spicy, and yes, it can be kind of scary, but after few moments? Man, that spice high is good, and that lamb is amazing.
Do it. I dare you.
Give it a try, you have until the end of this month.
