Coming out of the Illament records corner we have Vox Merger, a multi-cultural rap duo from Los Angeles. Relatively new to the scene, these guys bring a refreshing brand of hip-hop to the table that relies less on boasting and more on the hunger for success that's supposed to come first. With insightful empassioned lyrics about the American dream MC Might Ro Young has the vocal bravado and sonic bombast of a young Ice Cube. And the music business has taken notice. Saturday Dec. 4 saw the Vox Merger opening up for the freshly reunited Wu-Tang Clan, and the duo expects an album to be released before the end of the year. Although anything could happen between now and then, since co-MC Anthony Akim is currently in law school. For the sake of hip-hop's future, we hope he continues to raise the bar rather than joining it.
