Super sweet DJ duo Sugarlight Girls claim to “save your life one beat at a time.” Well now, that’s a pretty tall order—but bringing ‘60s soul, ‘70s rock, freakbeat and Brit pop to the masses is a good way to start musical salvation. Add the fact that they play on Wednesdays (the first and third of the month), just when people might need a mid-week break from the grind. And to top it off, they do it for free, conscious as they are of these recession-weary times. That’s right, melodious atonement at no cover charge. Mere DJs or steadfast humanitarians?
