The bacon-wrapped hot dog, the messy, mouthwatering treat that awaits after stumbling out of a Hollywood club at 2 a.m., has been smothered with a logo-ed wrapper and made into a limited-time menu item at Wienerschnitzel.

As part of its 50th-anniversary celebration, the Irvine-based chain is offering its signature hot dog wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon in three different varieties–original; drenched in chili; and in a “street dog” style topped with grilled onions, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
Though some have expressed shock at the mass production of the bacon-wrapped hot dog, whose mothership is in Sonora, Mexico, we're not at all surprised. The beloved, heart-attack-inducing wonder had become mainstream even before Farmer John made it the center of its massive ad campaign.
It doesn't seem like something you can screw up, though early reviewers such as An Immovable Feast have proclaimed that Wienerschnitzel did just that.
