This year's World Ocean Day theme is “Together we have the power to protect the ocean.” And to celebrate that endearing sentiment, the Aquarium of the Pacific hosts an all-day Pacific Islander festival complete with film screenings, traditional island cuisine, hula dancing, Tahitian drumming and a whole host of earth-friendly educational activities and crafts. The day culminates with a World Ocean Day concert presented by the Long Beach Chorale (their annual summer recital). The music event featuring sixty voices harmonizing melodies ranging from classical songs to movie music—and even a few sea chanteys to keep with the theme.
