It seems that every time you ask a young person what they want for Christmas they answer with the latest thing-a-ma-gig that’s made for less than a buck but retails for $57. What’s wrong with kids these days? Back when we were youngsters all we asked for was world peace like good, honest Americans. Where do you think beauty queens learned it from? Luckily, hope is not lost because Compassionate Service Society is hosting the World Peace Gathering 2013 at the Long Beach Convention Center to make up for the mistakes of this latest generation. The three-day festival begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. each day—and the solar cycle is filled with the kind of events that make for a peaceful spirit and society like philosophy lectures, discussions, quiet time and group Tai Chi. The festival even includes lunch and light dinner. It’d be violent not to make an appearance—meditate on that for a moment and then come join the enlightenment.
