Coachella 2019 announced its lineup tonight, revealing headliners Childish Gambino (Friday), Tame Impala (Saturday) and Ariana Grande (Sunday). Solidifying the predictions of many fans over last several weeks, Goldenvoice’s flagship festival is bringing together many of the biggest and most sonically adventurous names in music with a stacked undercard featuring Solange, Kid Cudi, Aphex Twin, Janelle Monáe, the 1975, Pusha-T, Blood Orange, Diplo, Weezer, Kacey Musgraves, Rosalía, SOPHIE, Mac DeMarco, Idris Elba, Jon Hopkins, Kaytranada, Anderson .Paak, Juice WRLD, Playboi Carti, Let’s Eat Grandma, Bad Bunny, Sheck Wes, Gesaffelstein, J Balvin, 070 Shake, and more are also on this year’s lineup. Check out the poster below. Coachella returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California from April 12-14 and then for a second weekend from April 19-21.
Though Kanye West was widely rumored to take the stage in Indio along with another would-be headliner Justin Timberlake, West fans had their dreams dashed by TMZ today when it was announced that the hip-hop icon pulled out of performing at the festival when he refused to compromise his idea to perform on a standard festival stage. Goldenvoice reportedly refused to alter or remove the traditional main stage for Kanye.
The announcement also comes on the heels of Childish Gambino playing what we all thought was his final run of shows ever at the Forum last month (wink, wink) and the news of Grande canceling her recent Las Vegas tour date due to health issues. And just when you thought Tame Impala couldn’t headline one more festival…surprise! There they are again. Just goes to show that when it comes to Indio, anything is possible.
On the local tip: Good on The Garden for getting picked to play on Day 2!
