So begins the weekly residency at the Wayfarer for Island Apollo, an Irvine-based band that seems to have found a foothold in nearly every major platform— commercials, television, marketing campaigns, etc.— without a major presence in their native OC. Although that may soon change: the group have a harmonious pop sound that meshes with most indie rock today, especially those leaning towards upbeat, danceable rock a la Panic! At The Disco and Foster the People. Having opened for groups like Capital Cities and Third Eye Blind and already disseminating their tracks through multiple networks, and having won an OC Music Award for “Best Pop Artist,” there's no reason why Island Apollo shouldn't be on your radar in the upcoming months.
