Mike Ness Allegedly Puts the Smack Down on a Trump Supporter

Say this much for Social Distortion at this stage in their career–they continue to make things interesting.

At a show in Sacramento last month, singer Mike Ness railed against President Donald Trump on stage, which, for the most part, seemed to be greeted warmly. However, one fan — a Trump supporter named Tim Hildebrand — didn’t take too kindly to the singer’s diatribe.

Hildebrand, who claims to be a longtime fan, apparently hasn’t been up on the band’s political leanings.

In an interview with Sacramento’s local CBS affiliate, he said, “I stood pretty much with my silent protest with my middle finger up for the next two songs.”

As one would expect, Ness wasn’t too thrilled with that when he noticed and after a brief verbal spat, Ness socked him like any old crusty punk rocker would.

The moment, which was captured by some intrepid concertgoers (which you can see below) was poised to head into annals of Social D folklore, until Hildebrand decided to file a police report over the incident. Reportedly, Hildebrand said received two black eyes, a busted lip and a concussion from Ness. He also said that he “wasn’t able to defend myself because people in the crowd were holding me back.”

As of Wednesday, Sacramento police are apparently investigating the incident

Seems pretty excessive, right?

So what does this all mean for Ness, Social D and what not?

Who knows, but if anything, if you’re a Social D fan, you should know by now that Ness is not just an avid boxing fan, but also a boxer in his own right. If you’re a fan of Social D’s and are thinking about battling the band over their politics, you better think twice before flipping the bird, or else you’re going to make your own bad, bad luck.
